Tacos are a staple at the farmhouse.  Those nights when we are busy, we like to make a batch of tacos because they are quick and easy.  I always grab my go to taco seasoning mix to make these extra flavorful for the family.

The taco seasoning that we used to use contained a lot of ingredients that I just didn’t think we needed.  The previous store bought version contained the following ingredients:  chili pepper, corn starch, salt, onion powder, maltodextrin, spice, sea salt, vegetable oil, corn flour, silcon dioxide, citric acid, sugar, and natural flavors.  Here at the farmhouse, we like to use simple ingredients with a lot of flavor and this homemade taco seasoning meets that criteria.

Storage

I store this seasoning in an airtight container.  The amount that is made in the recipe will fit into a pint size mason jar.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup chili powder
  • 6 Tablespoons ground cumin
  • 4 Tablespoons Real Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons black pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons or more red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

Add spices to bowl and mix together.

Add to storage container.

Add 1 to 2 Tablespoons per pound of meat based on desired flavor.

I hope you enjoy this taco seasoning as much as my family does.  Thank you for following us on our Inner Health Journey!
